Delivering Solar Solutions for a Global Logistics Leader
When a longstanding logistics partner and one of Prologis’ Top 10 global customers set out to strengthen its sustainability credentials across three UK sites, our Essentials Energy team delivered. As part of a wider ambition to reduce operational emissions, the customer sought a partner who could deliver across multiple sites, without disrupting business as usual.
Commercial Innovation
When Prologis partners with a customer to deliver a new solar PV solution, there are two commercial models available. In this case, the customer opted to purchase the energy generated via a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This approach offers long-term price certainty and protection from market fluctuations.
Alternatively, customers may choose to lease the solar equipment directly from Prologis — a model often preferred when aligned with a building lease. Both options are designed to provide flexibility, supporting our customers’ sustainability goals while delivering commercial value.
The result
A combined rooftop solar PV system totalling 493 kWp was installed across sites at Kettering and Heathrow. Thanks to a fast-tracked planning process and parallel mobilisation across all locations, the programme was completed in just three months.
The system is now generating 452 MWh annually, helping the customer cut 84 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
