Leading Vitamin Company Shows Healthy Interest in Hemel Hempstead

Vitabiotics, the UK’s leading supplier of vitamins and supplements, has taken a 12-year lease for a 171,103 sq.ft distribution centre at Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead.

The company, run by Dragon’s Den star Tej Lalvani, will occupy the largest building on the park and will use the facility as its national distribution centre for brands including Wellman, Wellwoman and Pregnacare. The move will also be creating jobs in the local area, with the company looking to recruit full time warehouse employees at both junior and senior levels.

Speaking about the decision, Tej Lalvani, CEO of Vitabiotics said: “We are excited to be moving our warehousing facilities to a brand-new national distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead. I am pleased to say this will more than double our operating capacity, creating efficient logistics and employment in the area to enable future growth. We were also attracted by the environmentally sustainable benefits that the premises offered that fits in line with our vision moving forward.”

Vitabiotics is also recruiting for positions based at its main headquarters at Staples Corner, at the bottom of the M1, only 20 minutes away from their brand new distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead.

The announcement further demonstrates the popularity of Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead as an ideal location to serve both the London and national markets, as Tom Price, Leasing & Development Officer for Prologis explains:

All new Prologis buildings in the UK are designed to be sustainable and provide superior energy performance, helping to minimise the customer’s operational costs whilst protecting the environment. Vitabiotics’ new building benefits from a rooftop solar power array, rainwater harvesting and solar thermal hot water systems. However, the sustainability features of the building and the wider Park environment do not stop there.

Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead will protect 421 acres of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, a unique network of forest conservation initiatives which involves all 53 countries of the Commonwealth. Working with the environmental charity Cool Earth, Prologis will mitigate 109% of the carbon involved in the construction of the buildings on Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead by protecting an area of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy in Papua New Guinea.

Prologis already owns four distribution buildings on the Maylands Industrial Estate and, once complete, Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead will provide over 750,000 square feet of industrial and logistics space, giving the company a development footprint of over 1.4 million square feet in the area.
