Prologis, the global leader in logistics real estate today announced an agreement to lease two adjacent facilities totaling 198,110 square feet at Prologis Park West London in Hayes to VIRTUS Data Centres, the UK’s fastest growing data centre provider.
The two units, which provide 116,637 square feet and 81,473 square feet, were built speculatively and completed earlier this year. In August, Hillingdon Borough Council granted planning permission for the buildings, which will be known as LONDON5 and LONDON6, to operate as data centres. Fit-out work is underway and VIRTUS expects LONDON5 to be available by early 2018.
“With the hunger for connectivity and data growing exponentially, our data centres continue to play a vital role in enabling the UK and Europe’s digital economy,” said Neil Cresswell, CEO of VIRTUS Data Centres. “This investment in LONDON5 and LONDON6 will increase our capacity and capability to help our customers achieve their ambitions.”
Both buildings include rooftop solar installations and have achieved BREEAM ‘Excellent’ accreditation along with EPC ‘A’ ratings. Close to Heathrow Airport and with easy access to the M4, M25 and M40 motorways, Prologis Park West London is also located on the main fibre routes from London to Slough.
“Along with the rapid expansion of ecommerce, we are seeing a growing demand for data centre space,” said Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis UK. “Prologis Park West London offers a secure site with metro fibre connectivity, so it is ideal for the new VIRTUS campus. We are delighted that we were able to offer two high quality buildings on the park to meet the company’s requirements.”
JLL, Savills and DTRE acted for Prologis.
Prologis owns and manages approximately 24 million square feet of logistics and industrial space in the UK as of June 30, 2017.
