Ocado at Prologis Park Littlebrook
The Requirement
- In line with its commitment to low-carbon supermarket shopping, Ocado needed a new distribution centre with easy motorway access to its customer base in the South East. This new facility would be a transhipment depot; consolidating goods from Ocado’s main warehouse in Hatfield for onward delivery by a fleet of vans to customers’ homes.
The Solution
- Prologis was able to offer a site at Prologis Park Littlebrook in Dartford, close to Junction 1A of the M25. Along with the 10,000 sq ft transhipment depot, the site included additional land for future expansion.
- Prologis sold Ocado a freehold site for the depot and acted as the development manager on the 10,000 sq ft facility that was designed to meet its exact specification.
- Ocado aimed to bring around 350 jobs to Dartford and
Prologis was able to offer the services of the JobShop on its neighbouring site, The Bridge, to co-ordinate local recruitment and training.
- In line with the company’s environmental commitment, Ocado staff are able to travel to work on the Fastrack public transport system that runs through The Bridge with a stop close to
the depot.
The Result
- The building was completed to meet Ocado’s timetable and the company was able to re-locate its Aylesford operation to its new purpose-built facility at Prologis Park Littlebrook.
"This is a great location for our business, with its advantageous transport links and proximity to London.
We are very pleased to continue our rapid growth in the Dartford area."
