At the Estates Gazette Awards 2010 on 22 November in London, Prologis was named Property Company of the Year - Industrial and Distribution.
The accolade recognises Prologis’ achievements during a challenging year, when despite the economic downturn, the company let over 3.6 million sq ft of vacant space in 13 transactions. Prologis also agreed deals on 1.6 million sq ft of build-to-suit facilities, which include a 503,000 sq ft distribution centre for the Co-operative Group at Prologis M8. This is the largest pre-let deal ever agreed in Scotland and it was the biggest UK pre-let of 2009.
While the quality of its buildings and the location of its sites have helped Prologis to attract retailers and other organisations that are continuing to expand, it has also developed a customer-focussed letting and build-to-suit development strategy that has succeeded in distinguishing the company from its competitors.
At the same time, customers have welcomed Prologis’ approach to the design and construction of low carbon intensity facilities that are not only energy-efficient and cost-effective, but that can also help customers meet their own carbon reduction targets.
As Andrew Griffiths, Managing Director of Prologis UK said:
"It is a great honour to win this award and I am particularly pleased that we have achieved this in such a tough economic climate. As this award shows, Prologis has reinforced its position at the forefront of the UK industrial property market and we look forward to the future with confidence."
