Prologis signs new lease with GAP in Stafford

2 July 2010

Gap chose Prologis Park Stafford as distribution centre for the launch of its online retail business in the UK. The company will occupy the 230,347-square-feet DC4 unit (pictured above). The building has been certified EPC Grade A.

Following this deal Prologis Park Stafford is fully let. Positioned in the central M6 corridor, the park has already attracted Screwfix, occupying the DC1 unit of 544,685 square feet, luxury goods group WWRD Holdings (operating under the brands Waterford, Wedgewood and Royal Doulton) which let DC2 in September 2009 and Altecnic, retailer of plumbing products, which has purchased DC3.

Gap Inc. Direct commented: "Location was paramount for the launch of our online operations and the distribution network is unbeatable at Prologis Park Stafford. Energy efficiency is also high on the Gap agenda. Our new facility will enable us to offer customers in the U.K. great service with faster in-country fulfillment and no hidden fees."

Andrew Griffiths, MD of Prologis UK, commented: “We are delighted to have signed this agreement with Gap for the development of its online business. The demand for quality distribution space from the e-commerce sector has continued to be strong despite the difficult economic conditions. We have benefitted from having high specification facilities available in great locations and we were able to implement tailored fit-out solutions."

"It is pleasing to announce a further significant investment in the economy of Staffordshire from a major international business, following the recent local transactions with M&S, Dunelm Mill and WWRD."
