Gap is the latest retailer to have chosen ProLogis Park Stafford as a distribution centre. The company will use the 230,347-square-feet DC4 unit for the launch of its online retail business in the UK. In September last year ProLogis signed a lease agreement for the 128,000 square-foot DC2 unit in the same park with WWRD UK Ltd. (WWRD), a leading luxury goods group that owns and operates the Waterford Crystal, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton brands. WWRD now uses the facility as its European distribution hub.

In Stoke ProLogis signed a build-to-suit lease agreement with Dunelm Mill, the homeware retailer, for a 250,000 square-feet building extension two months ago, doubling Dunelm’s distribution capacity to a total 500,000 square feet. Also in Stoke ProLogis signed a lease agreement with Marks & Spencer on a 382,000 square feet unit in September last year. Following the new build-to-suit deal, ProLogis Park Stoke is now completed.

Through those deals ProLogis has attracted around 2,745 jobs to Staffordshire, 1,445 of which have been created at ProLogis’s wholly owned properties at Stoke and Stafford. The remaining jobs are at Centre 38 at Barton Business Park, a joint development with St Modwen, and at buildings that have been sold to the occupiers such as Altecnic at ProLogis Park Stafford.

Andrew Griffiths, MD of ProLogis UK, commented: "We are extremely pleased to have played our part in enabling further economic development in the region; there has been significant new employment opportunities involved in these developments during a very challenging time."

"It is good news that retailers such as Gap, Marks and Spencer and Dunelm Mill are continuing to invest in their operations and we were able to offer them first quality distribution facilities in excellent locations."
